Fall Bulletin Board Fun!

This one is located in our entrance way to the school. : )

We made scarecrows and Indian corn to decorate the bulletin board outside our classroom.

We thought this would be a great way to honor our Veterans!

Letters on the Bus Song!

This is a fun song to help with letter names and sounds! We sing it for each letter we learn each week. A was our letter last week.

The [A] on the bus goes
[/a/, /a/, /a/], [/a/, /a/, /a/], [/a/, /a/, /a/].
The [A] on the bus goes [/a/, /a/, /a/]
as in apple.

We use certain key words for each letter at school and I am sure they will let you know what they are! :)

Anger Busters

I made a poster for our classroom of a list of things we can do to channel our anger in a positive way. I thought I would share them with you to try at home!

Look how many books we read in March!

I am uploading the picture a month late, I know, but it is pretty amazing how many books we read during the month of March! Each chili pepper above a student's fiesta boy or girl equals 5 books read!

Fiesta!

Our March is Reading Month theme is fiesta this year so we are spicing things up for the month! Here is a picture of the bulletin board outside of the classroom. We are showcasing the book Chicks & Salsa!

We will be having many incentives during the month to encourage reading!

§    Whitecaps Baseball Reading Club Ticket
Your child can earn two free tickets to a Whitecaps baseball game in the spring! For every 15 minutes read, parents need to initial a baseball spot on the ticket. This ticket can stay at home or be kept in your child’s Here and There Folder until completed and then it needs to be returned to me. I will send tickets home as soon as we get them.

§    How many books can you read?
I would also like you to keep their book log sheets in their folders this month because for every five books they read, they will get to add a chili pepper above their fiesta boy or girl. If you fill up all the spaces on the front of the book log, you may continue logging books read on the back of the sheet or on an additional piece of paper. I will cross the books off as I count them.

So….since there are so many different reading incentives going on, you may count books for all three of them! For example, one book can be written down on the book log, counted as part of the 15 minutes read for the Whitecaps Baseball Reading, and will count towards the five books read to add a chili pepper above your child’s fiesta boy or girl. Please support and encourage your child to take part in these great reading incentives!

§       Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s Birthday March 3rd
§       DEAR Time (Drop Everything And Read) Every morning!
§       Author Assembly – Denise Brennan
